private educational foundation
For many students, the cost of tuition can be a major barrier to achieving their educational goals. The Susan Hay Hemminger Scholarship Foundation is dedicated to providing financial assistance to those in need of tuition assistance. This tax-exempt, not-for-profit, private educational foundation offers up to $5,000 in scholarships to assist eligible students with their tuition costs.
The application process for the scholarship is simple and straightforward. All interested students must submit an online application which includes a personal statement outlining their academic and career aspirations as well as any additional relevant information. Once all applications have been reviewed by the foundation’s selection committee, they will award up to $5,000 in scholarships based on merit and financial need.
The Susan Hay Hemminger Scholarship Foundation provides a valuable opportunity for those seeking assistance with tuition costs.

My aunt, Judge Susan Hay Hemminger, was an incredible woman. She was the first female judge in La Porte County, and I was so proud of her. I was very young when she was elected, but I can still remember being allowed to sit in while she presided over cases. She cared a lot about young people’s futures, and this helped make her a great judge. This scholarship has done so much for a generation of La Porte County’s students. I know she would be very proud of what they’ve accomplished.
